Fruit and vegetable processing factory in Jarmenovci to get another facility – Production capacity grows by 30% each year
The factory, which was founded in 1950s by the United Nations as an experimental center, has put all of its capacities into operation. They are sorting and packing frozen cherries and make jams using modern technologies.
American businessman Goran Petkovic, who was born in the area, has owned the factory since 2007. He has renewed the production and modernized the facilities.
– We put the full capacity into operation five years ago and we are expanding it by 30% each year. There's no secret to it, we are merely cooperating honestly with our suppliers, paying them on time. We've found good associates and we are able to sell our goods – says the owner of GMP Jarmenovci, Goran Petkovic.
The construction of another fruit processing facility has also been planned, and a lot is expected from the cooperation with the Chinese partners.
A total of 8,000 tons of fruit was processed in the Jarmenovci factory last year, and the 2,000 households from the Topola area that they cooperate with can do even better.
– The prices of plums were at their record low, allowing for them to be bought and processed so that added value is produced. Around 80% of what is produced here is exported – says Dragan Jovanovic, president of the Municipal Assembly of Topola.
