Ball Packaging Belgrade sells record 1.5 billion cans – Two new innovative products from 2016 as well
– This will enable us to supply customers throughout the world with cans, thanks to our increased capacities and better positioning. We will be delivering around a hundred billion cans a year – says Nenad Djurdjevic, General Commercial Manager at Ball Packaging Europe Belgrade.
The estimate is that Ball Serbia sold around 1.5 billion cans in 2016. This is the record number since the beginning of their operations in 2005.
– We export cans from Belgrade to 22 countries of Europe, Asia and Africa, but the primary market of Ball Serbia are CEE countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, countries of former Yugoslavia and Albania. This market has been constantly growing for five years. Last year’s growth of 5.5% brought us to the number of 3.3 billion cans. This is a result of the growing popularity of energy drinks, but also of the fact that there are new shapes and sizes of cans in the market (400 ml and 330 ml), produced at the Belgrade factory as well – Djurdjevic says.
Nenad Djurdjevic says that, since June 2016, two new innovative products of Ball Packaging have been produced – a can with a straw and a BRE lid, enabling consumers to temporarily close the can and continue using it later on. This is a great innovation in the packaging industry.
– The opening of the special products facility enabled us to employ new workers and engineers, who have been given an opportunity to gather experience by working on world-class products – Djurdjevic points out.
