Germany’s Continental completing construction of new facility in Subotica – Value of investment EUR 17 million
According to the general manager of Continental in Serbia, Zivko Topalovic, all works should be completed by mid-January 2017, following which the new production will start. The total area of the new factory amounts to 12,000 m2, and it will employ an additional 500 workers, thereby increasing the number of employees in the company to 1,200.
– The value of the investment is around EUR 17 million, encompassing the facility and the accompanying machines. We are already in the process of employing new people and training them for working in the factory – Topalovic says for RTV.
In addition to these 500 workers, the local self-government is counting on further employments in the Mali Bajmok Commercial Zone in 2017. Mayor of Subotica, Bogdan Laban, hopes for the arrival of a new investor.
– I hope that the industrial zone will get a new resident in early 2017, a new company we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with, which will take part in the auction, as the remaining land in the industrial zone will be auctioned. There is an interested purchaser. The new company will employ around 120 people – Laban said.
Continental is one of the many companies operating in the Mali Bajmok Commercial Zone, including Siemens, Norma Group, Amatek, Calzedonia and Swarowski.
