Around EUR 280,000 has been secured so far for the construction of the Raca honey factory of the Beekeeping Association of Serbia (SPOS), as the president of the association, Rodoljub Zivadinovic, says for eKapija. According to him, the adjustment of the founding act is currently in progress, and it is expected for the joint company of SPOS and the Municipality of Raca, which is to build the factory, to be founded in mid-January 2017.

– Immediately afterwards, we will start acquiring the necessary permits, and following that, the construction of the factory will start. It’s hard to project exactly when the construction works will be completed, as we don’t know how quickly we will be able to secure the funds we lack at the moment, but we expect the construction part to be completed during 2017, and for the facility to start operating in 2018 – Zivadinovic says.

He adds that the modification to the project has been completed and that the areas of the warehouse and other parts of the facility have been increased.

Let us remind that, in early November 2016, SPOS assessed the offer made by the Municipality of Raca to be the best among the offers of the municipalities shortlisted for the construction of the honey factory – Srbobran, Cuprija, Surdulica and Mali Zvornik. It was said on the occasion that the estimate showed that the construction and the equipping of the facility would take around EUR 650,000.

During the signing of the final agreement on the foundation of a joint business entity on November 23, 2016, representatives of SPOS and the Municipality of Raca also talked about the possibility of further cooperation on adapting Queen Maria’s residence, located across the road from the spot chosen for the construction of the factory, and Zivadinovic says that the possibilities of joint applications for projects are still being considered.

– The author of our earlier project “River of Honey” is currently looking into the options of getting the project enabling this, but this is still just a distant possibility. However, that’s what we thought about the “River of Honey” and our uniquely designed honey jar, used only by the beekeepers at SPOS, and we still managed to get there. There are no problems, then, only challenges – says Rodoljub Zivadinovic for our portal.

Following the construction of the facility in Raca, SPOS plans, as he says, to found an apicenter and a beekeeping institute.

– This requires a lot of money and a general consensus of beekeepers, and we will see how things will go on further – Zivadinovic concludes.
