At the location of former Eksportekst in Lebane, Turkey's Tibet Moda will open a sports clothes factory, in which 1,000 people will be employed, says the Serbian Progressive Party commissioner for the municipality of Lebane, Goran Jovic, and adds that the investment has been agreed with the Government of Serbia.

– The negotiations are in their final stages and I hope that we will start realizing the project in February 2016. The arrival of the first big investor after two decades is only the beginning of Lebane's economic recovery – said Jovic, at the same time the president of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Leskovac.

The ruined Eksportekst will be bought out of bankruptcy by the local self-government, using the Government's funds, and will be given to the Turkish investor to use. Tibet Moda produces sweat suits and shirts for well known brands New Balance and Adidas.

The state will also provide the money for the reconstruction of devastated halls. Workers will be employed in stages, in line with the dynamics of the recovery of production facilities, with a total area of 11,000 square meters.

– We are trying to turn Lebane into an entirely different city this time in 2017. The local self-government has also submitted a request for the purchase of the land of former Trikotaza, which will be offered to interested investors, and there are also potential investors for former Agrar – Jovic said.

– We are also planning to offer around a dozen hectares of the municipal land in Bosnjaci to agriculturists for building storage capacities, which is why we've initiated the procedure of repurposing the agricultural land into building land – Jovic emphasized.

Tibet Moda opened a textile factory in Cuprija in September 2016, also announcing the employment of 1,000 workers.
