The City of Belgrade has prepared the smart plan and the subway should fit into the idea of integrated public transport, Mayor Sinisa Mali emphasized yesterday.

Mali and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic attended the presentation of the Belgrade subway, prepared by the City of Belgrade. The presentation was also attended by representatives of French construction companies Alstom and Egis, as well as Christine Moro, Ambassador of France to Serbia.

– I expect that we will be working together on the feasibility study in the next few months and that we will present a concrete subway project to the people of Belgrade and Serbia very soon – the mayor said, as reported by Beoinfo.

– The feasibility study, the documentation and other preparations take about two and half years, following which the construction can start. The French delegation will be visiting Belgrade for two days, analyze the entire route and all the necessary elements in order for us to present an offer regarding the financing and the manner of performing the works, following which we will meet again and, we hope, complete the job in the next few months – Mali said.

The strategic plan of integrated transport system in Belgrade, containing proposed subway lines, entails a detail analysis of the citizen movements and the projection of the growth of population of Belgrade in the years ahead, as well as basic elements of integrated transport model, based on which the Serbia-French cooperation will continue.

Talking about the functioning of BG Voz, Mali announced the extension of the existing lines.

– Near the end of 2016, following the reconstruction of the Pancevo Bridge, we will start working on the section up to Ovca and the lower branch towards Resnik. BG Voz is used by around 35,000 people daily and we will use those advantages – he added.
