The Chinese company Eurofiber opened its new production facility in Cuprija today, in the presence of Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. The commissioning ceremony was attended by the ambassador of China to Serbia, Li Manchang, the company`s owner, Zhang Zhiguo, and the president of the municipality of Cuprija, Ninoslav Eric.

The Chinese investors have invested around EUR 1 million in the new production facility.

Eric emphasized that the opening of the factory was great news for the municipality and a result of successful negotiations from a year before, when representatives of the municipality talked with Chinese businessmen. He added that the total investments in Eurofiber would amount to around EUR 13 million and that the municipality had set aside RSD 27 million and that the the factory would employ around 200 workers in the next three years.

Eric added that the municipal authorities in Cuprija wished for it to become an industrial center again.

– Everybody says that Cuprija is small, but there are 28,000 unemployed people within the ten-kilometer radius of this factory. We wish to recover the economic center and turn the Morava district into an advanced area – Eric said.

Zhigou said that the plan was for the company to increase the production in China and Serbia in order to reach the annual capacity of 10,000 tons and to establish a full production cycle, from the yarn to the finished product.

– The opening of the factory in Serbia is a part of our strategic plan. The annual production of 900 tons is planned in the first phase. If it goes according to plan, the idea is to increase the production trifold and expand it to nylon yarn. This way, we would reach the scale of the annual production in China – Zhigou said.

As the Chinese investors have announced, the construction of a 20,000 m2 hall in the Cuprija Industrial Zone is also planned.
