October Salon visited by nearly 17,000 people

In the six weeks of this year's 56th October Salon, the exhibition was visited by nearly 17,000 people, several times more than the previous one. The secretary for culture of the City of Belgrade, Ivona Jevtic, stated that she was extremely satisfied with the results and the visit.

She thanked the entire team, the Board of the October Salon, the Cultural Center of Belgrade for organizing the event, the art director, the creator of the visual identity, the artists and the media which reported from the events for the entirety of the six weeks, reported the Information Service of the City of Belgrade.

– This event is highly important for Belgrade. It has shown that there is great interest in contemporary art and that foundations for cooperation between artists from the local scene are being re-established, as are the foundations for an even better international cooperation – Jevtic pointed out.

This year's October Salon exhibited works of 67 artists, of which 19 from Serbia.

At the premises of the Belgrade City Museum in Resavska Street, 21 side programs were held (13 professional and thematic tours, five performances, two workshops for the young, a concert and two oral presentations). At the Cultural Center of Belgrade, 10 side programs were presented (six professional tours, an opening performance, two workshops for the young and a lecture by David Elliott and Jonathan Barnbrook), and the “Love in the Time of Capitalism” forum was attended by more than 180 people.
