Minister
of Energy in the Government of Serbia, Aleksandar Popović, said that the joint Russian-Serbian
venture would be formed prior to May 24 in order to take care of construction
of gas pipeline "Južni tok" in Serbia.
- Of the six largest parties in the Parliament,
the four are for ratification of the agreement on construction of gas pipeline
through our country, and that will be one of the first items on the agenda of
the new Parliament - said Popović at "Serbia's Energy Strategy”
tribune, which was organized in Kragujevac just before the last weekend by the National Strategy Forum.
He announced that construction of underground gas
storage in Banatski Dvor would start before the next winter, and it should be
followed by the construction of steam power plant of 320 MW near Sjenica. Also,
construction of joint steam power plant of Serbia and Republic of Srpska in the
Drina valley is in the pipeline.
Minister Popović said that he expected that the Government would allow the Electric Power Company of Serbia to announce public invitation for foreign companies for construction of the third block in steam power plant in Obrenovac and completion of construction of steam power plant Kolubara.
