The Ljig-Preljina highway toll will start being charged on January 1, 2017, and will amount to RSD 140 for cars, announced Deputy Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic yesterday.

She pointed out that the opening of that section of Corridor 11 was, above all, a sign that projects in Serbia were being completed and that more than 40 km had been opened.

– I believe that the highway is very important, not just regarding the safety, but as a sign for investors that we will finish Corridor 11. This is important for us due to those who will invest in various factories, but also for the development of tourism, as this is one the strategies of this government – Mihajlovic said and added that the highway to Zlatibor would also be completed.

Mihajlovic also said that there were plans to increase the toll on highways in Serbia and that the Government of Serbia would consider the request made by the Roads of Serbia to increase the toll up to 10% before the end of the year.

The Roads of Serbia have asked for the toll to be increased by 10% several times, pointing out that the price hasn't changed since 2008, whereas the prices of materials, energy sources and equipment used to maintains highways and roads kept growing in the meantime.

The acting director of the Roads of Serbia, Zoran Drobnjak, stated in January 2016 that the increase in toll prices would bring RSD 1.6 billion more for road maintenance in 2016. This is the estimate of the increase of toll revenues, which amounted to RSD 16.6 billion in 2015.

The toll revenues in 2016 have been estimated at RSD 19.1 billion, including revenues from the newly built toll booths Presevo and the Sirig-Subotica section.

The new price list proposed by the Roads of Serbia includes an increase from RSD 730 to RSD 800 for the Belgrade-Nis section, from RSD 340 to RSD 370 for the Belgrade-Sid section and from RSD 290 to RSD 320 for the Belgrade-Subotica section.
