Serbian agricultural producers made agreements worth USD 20 mil with the help of USAID – support at Agricultural fair in Novi Sad, as well

Several agricultural producers from Serbia have visited in the last few months, three large international fairs, where they agreed on projects worth USD 20 mil, in cooperation with American Agency for International Development (USAID).

USAID Mission Director, Michael Harvy, in his speech at a marketing seminar, said that for only one month 1,7 millions USD had been realized from the amount of 20 millions, and therefore fruit from Serbia already started its journey to large buyers from Russia and France.

By Harvy’s opinion people living outside Serbia are not aware of the quality of Serbian products. Agricultural products offer great potential and they are the best basis for expansion of Serbian export.

According to his words, USAID will finance and give technical support, through two projects – “Agrobusiness” and “Economic safety”, for joint appearance of 12 small and middle sized companies from entire country at the coming international Agriculture fair, which will be held in Novi Sad, from March, 13th-17th.

The following companies will participate at Agricultural fair in Novi Sad, with USAID support – “Galant I IG-LU”, from Kraljevo, “Fontana” from Presevo, “Natural Food” from Bujanovac, “Subex” from Novi Pazar, “Frigo-Nais” from Kursumlija, “Mlekara Zlatibor” from Uzice, “Begecki povrtari” from Begej, “Fruitland” from Subotica, “Moravica” and “Agrogaf” from Arilje and “Bilje Borca” fom Belgrade.

USAID projects, “Agrobusiness” and “Economic security” are 5 years programs which are financed by American Agency for International Development.

The goal of “Agrobusiness” project is assistance in the process of increasing the sales of agricultural products and number of working places in Serbian agriculture, through improving competitiveness of Serbian producers in local, regional and international markets. The project is undertaken in agricultural sectors with the largest market perspective – berry fruit, dairy products, medicinal herbs, spices and mushrooms, cattle breeding, fruits and vegetables.

The Project of economic safety has a goal to support stability and prosperity of Serbia through assisting companies in economically undeveloped areas and to create opportunities for hiring of most socially endangered population.

The program of economic safety is applied in 7 municipalities in Central, South-Western and Southern Serbia, where unemployment is very high and where there is a deficit of human resources.
