Second phase of construction of Science-Technological Park Novi Sad begins – Investment worth EUR 12.6 million
The celebration of the beginning of the construction was attended by the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, Minister of Public Administration Ana Brnabic, Minister of Youth and Sport Vanja Udovicic, as well as the president of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirovic, the report adds.
– Today's celebration of the 72nd anniversary of Novi Sad's liberation is rounded by the beginning of the realization of a great project and investment, the construction of a science-technological park in our city. The laying of the founding stone marks the beginning of a project which will produce a modern IT center, bringing together science, education and economy – Vucevic said.
– The city has helped the project through planning documentation and created the conditions for the construction, that is, for the facility to be exempt from paying the utility equipment fee – Vucevic added.
Minister of Youth and Sport Vanja Udovicic especially emphasized that the facility was just one of four science-technological park to be built in the next four years.
The president of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirovic, said that the beginning of the construction of the Science-Technological Park in Novi Sad was a new step towards the development in the area of science and its implementation in practice and that the project was very important for Vojvodina.
The dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Professor Rade Doroslovacki, pointed out that, thanks to this project, a lot more professors and assistant professors would be employed, especially in the IT sector, whereas around 16,000 square meters would be allocated to companies through contests.
The laying of the founding stone was also attended by state secretaries at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Anamarija Vicek and Professor Vladimir Popovic, as well as the executive director of Italiana Costruzioni, Luca Navarra. As the contractor's representative, Navarra said that the project would be completed in 24 months, the report adds.
The aim of the construction of the Science-Technological Park is to enable researchers at the University of Novi Sad to turn their results into products, services, processes or software which will find its place in the market. Furthermore, it should provide greater visibility to the university and the faculty in the international and local economic and research environment and help entrepreneurs who wish to start a new business in the area of high technology.
This is one of the largest investments in Novi Sad, worth around EUR 12.6 million, the report adds.
