Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated yesterday that the state needed to take over the debts of Pancevo’s Petrohemija in the amount of around EUR 100 million, in order for the company to be able to find a strategic partner.

– Petrohemija now has EUR 50 million on its account, but we will once again have to repay their debts of around EUR 100 million at the end of the year – Vucic said and pointed out that it was hard finding an interested investor with such debts.

– We want to have a clear situation, without past debts being a burden on us, because that way we might stand a chance of finding a strategic partner – he said.

Vucic added that the situation would change once the debts had been settled and added that the intention was to incur a small deficit in December in order to repay the debts.

– The Republic of Serbia “has bled” due to Petrohemija, financially, and will again in December – Vucic said.
