Serbian Economic Summit begins – Government working on creating new jobs and further developing market economy
Symeon Tsomokos, the director of TGI Group International, which is organizing the summit, has pointed out that the world and Europe are going through a difficult period, that they are facing important challenges, such as the growing threat of terrorism, questioning of democratic values, refugee crisis, environmental issues, Brexit...
– I would like for Serbia to continue moving much faster towards the membership in the European Union and I hope that it will achieve that goal as soon as possible – Tsomokos said at the opening of the summit.
Over the course of the next two days, there will be talk of the global shifts of the centers of power and their impact on the region, strengthening of the regional cooperation as one of the key factors of the progress of the whole region, about what kind of economy Serbia needs in the constantly changing world...
Other topics include healthcare, labor and public administration, issues of energy safety and efficiency, development of agriculture and agro-industry, but also the potential of entrepreneurship in Serbia.
David McAllister, European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, said that Serbia and the countries of the region had made a great step forward on the road to European integration and pointed out that it was time to step up the reforms and progress in economic transformations.
– The Government of Serbia is still in at early stage, but it is working on creating new jobs and further developing the market economy. Good management and honoring the rule of law help Serbia to integrate into the EUR more easily through the process, but also to improve the quality of life for its citizens – McAllister said.
