Two projects worth a total of EUR 21 million have been proposed for financing within the first invitation for submitting proposals for strategic projects at the second session of the Joint Supervisory Board of the Interreg-IPA program of cross-border cooperation between Romania and Serbia, held in Timisoara.
The first project is meant for improving the infrastructure in order to increase the navigability of the Begej canal, reported the cabinet of the minister without portfolio in charge of European integration, Jadranka Joksimovic, also the national IPA coordinator.
The value of this project is EUR 11,796,289.30 of IPA funds, and the realization deadline period is 48 months.
The other project proposed on October 5 in Timisoara envisions planning and preparing a feasibility study for the Pancevo-Timisoara highway. Romanian portals reported earlier that the strategic project had been approved at the second session of the Joint Supervisory Board of the Interreg-IPA program. Its value is EUR 9.306.206,39, and the realization deadline period in 42 months.
The Interreg-IPA cross-border cooperation program of Romania and Serbia was approved by the European Commission on August 6, 2015, and the first invitation was announced on September 15, 2015, with a budget of EUR 50 million, of which EUR 21 million was set aside for strategic projects.
