Inetrnational Tourism Fair, which started today (February 28, 2008) at the Belgrade Fair, gathered 850 exhibitors from 40 countries. The Fair was opened by the Minister of Economy and Regional Development, Mlađan Dinkić. On that occasion, he said that 27,000 were staying in Belgrade on that day, and pointed out that the destinations in Serbia were more and more interesting to the foreigners.

Last year, as he said, Serbia had 530m EUR worth of income from tourism.

Dinkić said that the state would keep investing in infrastructure and added that the international tender for construction of capacities on Old Mountain would be announced in March, of which value was estimated to 550m EUR.

As it was pointed out at the opening of the Fair, Government of Serbia had adopted the Strategy for development of tourism prior to 2015. The Strategy is directed to development of tourist potentials, marketing support and supply of services. With the adopted Strategy, Serbia is divided into four regions - Southeast Serbia, Soutwest Serbia, Vojvodina and Belgrade.

International Tourism Fair will be open until Sunday, March 2nd.
