Austria's Strabag and Belgrade's Europark are interested in purchasing PZP Beograd, the company seized by the state from Milo Djuraskovic.

The have sent an offer to the Ministry of Economy, which is currently in charge of the company, as it has been in the process of restructuring since 2011, to become owners of PZP out of bankruptcy.

If the transaction transpires, these companies will considerably increase their presence in the Serbian market.

The Austrian company already owns three companies in Serbia – Putevi Cacak, PZP Zajezar and PZP Pancevo.

Europark is also a powerful company. They own Krusevac Put and they used to own Backaput for a short time, another company once owned by Milo Djuraskovic. This privatization was terminated due to illegal acquisition of shares.

As Blic learns, the sale should be called these days, which means that PZP will stop being a responsibility of the state and find a new owner after five years.

The company was returned to the state and put on the list of state-owned companies in restructuring in November 2011, when Milo Djuraskovic, owner of Nibens Group was accused, along with Miroslav and Marko Miskovic, of financial wrongdoing and tax evasion in road companies.

The Blic source from the government claims that, in addition to sending a letter of intent, Strabag and Europark had talks at the Ministry of Economy.

– They want PZP as it would give them a primacy in the market of Serbia, but also the region. Namely, PZP, even though in bankruptcy, operates successfully and has nearly RSD 170 million on its account. That's more money than owned by all the road companies together. If Strabag succeeds, it will have more than half of Serbian market. Their regional influence will also grow, as they own half of the Hungarian market, as well as companies in Montenegro – explains the source from the government.
