A cornerstone of the factory for refining waste water in the mine of Bor was laid, and thus began a unique project of German Bayer and company Aero-aqua Belgrade after 7 years of preparations and researches. That is the project of refining waste water, that stands unexploited for decades, for obtaining copper and sulfate-iron. The technology is based on the principle of ion selective change, and obtaining of considerable amounts of zink, mangan and gold is also possible.
The begining of the test production is planned to be in March, 2005, and that investment is worth 1million EUR. At first, 100m water/hour will be refined, later 250 and finally 1000m /h. Thus, in the first 2 years 10 000-15 000 tons of copper will be obtained, and that copper will be used in the production of copper sulfate. With further improvements, obtaining of cathode copper and copper dust is planned.
