KNEZEVIC: Serbia needs to accelerate its economic growth

Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic said on Saturday, September 17, in Zrenjanin, on the occasion of the opening of the facility of the Italian factory Tecnostrutture, that Serbia, the city of Zrenjanin, as well as any other local self-government, needed to accelerate their economic growth.

– Our macroeconomic indicators are excellent, we have a stable and sustainable growth of more than 3%, and we will continue to have it in the period ahead. The inflation, the euro, the budget deficit, everything has been put under control and we are fighting to increase the GDP, open facilities and employ people, which is our priority – he said.

As he said, the state will also try, in cooperation with local self-governments, to enable investors to recognize Serbia as a good place to invest in.

– In addition to current direct investments, we find it exceptionally important to draw small businessmen, that is, small and medium enterprises, which will get a part of the market for themselves, as it is not realistic that Tecnostrutture, which has come to Zrenjanin, or anyone else, should be looking elsewhere for an equipment supplier, except for specialized equipment. Of course, a lot of the services they use will be provided by Serbian suppliers – Knezevic said.

It is necessary to educate and standardize small and medium enterprises and prepare them to meet all the challenges awaiting them in the future.

He reminded that the Ministry of Economy had already provided local self-governments with RSD 500 million for local infrastructure projects in order to provide investors with better conditions and an easier access to the market.
