Food outlet opens in Zagreb – Surplus, damaged and expired products sold
Unfortunately, around a third of food produced in the world becomes spoiled or gets thrown away, which amounts to around 1.3 billion tons. The project aims to put a stop to wasting food. In Croatia alone, 400,000 tons of unsold food get destroyed.
– We wish to make people aware that wasting food is bad for several reasons, the most important of which is environmental pollution. Food outlet stores will be places where food, hygienic and other products will be sold at prices 50-90% lower than their usual prices – says the project creator, Mario Zamboki.
This enterprise will be implemented and expanded to other parts of Croatia. A food outlet is planned to open in Tresnjevica, and an interesting feature is the mobile trade option planned for next spring.
