The Serbian Association of Employers has reported that it has submitted an initiative for financial unburdening of the economy to the Government of Serbia in order to make it competitive.

We believe that it is extremely important to improve the business conditions so that enterprises could persevere and become competitive in the market even after the Year of Entrepreneurship has finished, the announcement states.

They remind that the Year of Entrepreneurship has been declared in Serbia, encompassing a number of favorable loan contests with the aim of enabling producers to procure modern machinery and export their products to the EU market under more favorable conditions.

It has been estimated that the business environment in Serbia has been characterized by legal uncertainty, numerous parafiscal burdens, high expenses, but also a large number of the unemployed.

The Associations insists on removing all parafiscal burdens for which no service is provided and on honoring the Law on Communal Services.

The Association reminds that only two municipalities in Serbia honor the law and charge the same amount for communal services to both the commercial sector and households, whereas others charge three times as much to the commercial sector as they do to household. They propose increasing the amount of non-taxable income and a progressive way of taxing income along with reducing the tax and contributions rate on minimum wages.

Reducing the burden on low income in highly active industries such as textile and metal industries would directly increase competitiveness, salaries, lead to new employments and increase export, the Association estimates.
