European support to improving infrastructure in Serbia’s south – EUR 1.5 million for 14 new projects
The Managing Board of European Progress approved, based on the administrative, program and technical evaluation of the proposals submitted within the public call, the funding of projects which will primarily improve the efficiency of water supply systems, work conditions in schools, sports halls and culture centers, as well as the quality and availability of health and social services. Several projects will directly contribute to increasing energy efficiency in local self-governments and economic development by creating better operating conditions.
– The development of infrastructure is crucial to improving the competitiveness of the municipalities within the program. It’s a prerequisite for all the factors directly influencing the development – from education to production, drawing investments and creating new jobs. This is how the overall quality of living is increased and how people are given the opportunity to stay and work in the places they come from – said Graeme Tyndall, the manager of European Progress.
The implementation of the selected projects will contribute to improving and honoring the good management principles (responsibility, efficiency, transparency, citizen involvement and non-discrimination) in the municipalities in which the projects will be carried out.
The total budget of all the projects, together with the municipalities’ contributions in the amount of EUR 336,703, has been estimated at EUR 1,843,567.
The list of approved projects is available at the European Progress website.
