Biljana Stepanovic, the editor of Nova Ekonomija, says that investors are not coming to Serbia due to the bad business climate and the growing poverty.

Commenting on the writings of Danas that Bulgaria and Macedonia have beaten Serbia in the competition to draw investors, the editor of Nova Ekonomija says that the issue we're not considering is how much foreign investors cost us.

– If investors are rather choosing Macedonia, which I've only learned from the media, we should be alarmed by it, she says. So, if they're going to Macedonia despite the fact that we're giving tens of millions of euros to them, while they're paying minimum wages or even less to workers, what are the problems in Serbia? - Stepanovic wonders.

She estimates that the main issue is the bad business climate. Investors are not coming because here, the blame game is always being played, and we are too picky, and another reason is, she says the growing poverty and reduced purchasing power.

– This contamination of public space and insults coming even from the prime minister is unheard of. Nothing can grow in a bad environment – Stepanovic adds.
