Concession for Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport by mid-2017 – Investment of EUR 700 million expected

Prime Minister-designate Aleksandar Vucic announced during his speech to the members of the parliament that the Government was most likely to choose the concession model of running the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and that he expected that the job would be completed by mid-2017.

– By mid-2017, the Government of the Republic of Serbia will strive to introduce a legal partner to the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, which would enter into a long-term output-based contract arrangement, in which the private partner, in line with a long-term development strategy, would be responsible for projects, financing, expansion of capacities, managing and maintaining the airport – it is written in Vucic's expose.

– What was once worth a total of EUR 50 million now has, thanks to Air Serbia, a starting value of EUR 310 million for a 25-year concession contract with upfront payment, plus annual concession tax of EUR 10, 11 or 12 million for all 25 years – Vucic explained.

– This will provide the airport with investments of at least EUR 700 million and, of course, an additional inflow into the budget of the Republic of Serbia – Vucic said.
