Nis getting a new wharf – Cost of construction works around RSD 300 million, World Bank to loan the money

According to the announcements by the city authorities of Nis, people of Nis will be able to jog, stroll and rest by the river downstream from the city center in a little under a year and a half at the wharf a kilometer and a half long which is being built on the section between the Railway Bridge and Medosevac.

In this way, as they point out at the local self-government, Nis will be protected from floods as well.

The Nisava will, according to experts, by completely tamed in its flow through Nis, as the very demanding and extensive works on the river bed in the length of two kilometers are being carried out – the city's website reports.


People of Medosevac are pleased as well that the land around the bridge has been cleaned of thickets and shrubs and garbage which had been disposed at the site for years.

The entire project costs over RSD 300 million, the contractor is Srbijavode, and the completion is expected in 16 months. The money was acquired through a loan from the World Bank.
