The motto of this unusual Italian resort is: “Tan or your money back”. Lido di Jesolo, a summer resort and a town on the far north coast of the Adriatic Sea, which has seen numerous rain showers and cloudy days in June, has come up with a whole new way of attracting tourists and improving their holiday experience.

This small place which is located not far from Venice, and which is a popular stop on high school trips, guarantees to return money paid for beach services in case of bad weather. The rule applies between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. if rainfall per square meter exceeds 3 mm, reports the site Putuj Sigurno (Travel Safely).

Nevertheless, not even this comes free. To earn money from rainfall, tourists need to pay the fee for the entry to the beach and 1 euro a day for rain insurance.

It remains to be seen whether this will pay off for either the tourists or the resort, but everyone can agree that this is an interesting marketing move.
