Czech company SEBRE buys fifth of Avala Film – Investments worth EUR 10 million announced
The construction and reconstruction of the buildings will be realized by the investor through the Czech construction company Hinton.
- Avala Film's only hope is modernization and transfer of knowledge from active European film studios, such as, for example, Barrandov Studios in Prague – stated the chairman of the Managing Board of SEBRE Jan Fidler.
The Czech investor SEBRE has a plan for the film studio to return among the main centers of film production in Europe, which Avala Film used to be until the 1990s.
The guarantee that the strategy is good is the arrival of the new general manager Vladimir Kuba, who used to work as the director and chairman of the managing Board of Barrandov Studios.
- Barrandov Studios in Prague used to be in the same position as Avala Film, and today it is again at the top of the film industry. That's what we wish for Avala Film as well – said Kuba.
The purchase of the Avala Film share is a confirmation of the Czech investors' trust in Serbia. The SEBRE investment is among the biggest ones in the last few years.
- To Serbs, Avala Film is like a family heirloom. The SEBRE investment is significant not just as a strong positive incentive for Serbia's film industry, but also as a unequivocal signal which will strengthen the investors' trust and draw other Czech companies to the Serbian market – said the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Belgrade Ivana Hlavsova.
