Forest Seeds Center opened in Požega
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Waterpower Engineering, Slobodan Milosavljević, put the Center for processing of forest trees’ seeds into operation yesterday (December 17, 2007). Total of 1m EUR from NIP was invested in the center that was opened in Požega and "Srbijašume" and Ministry of Agriculture provided part of the funds.
As Minister Milosavljević said, Požega-based Center, which has been completed with the up-to-date equipment from Sweden, will provide high-quality forest planting material for entire Serbia and part for export, thanks to application of European and world standards.
He said that the opening of this facility represented a great step towards realization of strategy for increase in percentage of forests in Serbia from current 27 to 40%. The carriers of the activities of Požega-based Center are Public Company "Srbijašume" and Lumber Camp "Užice" with high-quality professional personnel and sixty-year experience with seeds production.
