Preparatory work for the construction of the first IKEA department store in Serbia started, regional head for development of IKEA Vladislav Lalic said on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

At the round table "Consumer rights: a challenge or an opportunity for brand and company," he outlined that preparatory work as well as work on relocation of the toll at Bubanj Potok started, adding that he no longer expects any surprises.

Lalic announced that IKEA in Serbia will open its doors in the summer of next year, adding that the company is counting on two and a half million customers a year in the facility on 34,000 m2, where 300 people will be employed. Speaking of the region, he said the objective of IKEA is to have 13 department stores at the Western Balkans.

He said the company will, when it opens its store in Belgrade, fully align its operations with the legislation.
