Crop prices falling for months - Farmers at a loss, cattlemen turn higher profits
Prices of crops have been on a decline for months both in Serbia and the rest of the world. Jovo Rodic, an animal feed manufacturer and a crop purchaser from Cenej near Novi Sad, says that low prices of cereals are the reason why farmers are at a loss for not selling the goods right after the harvest and for storing them instead, waiting for a better price.
On the other hand, cattlemen feared that last year's drought and low yields would push the price of fodder up. However, that did not happen, which contribute to more favorable situation in cattle breeding.
