Eurobank and Vojvodjanska Banka, which operates as part of the National Bank of Greece, should soon merge in the market of Serbia, the daily Novosti reports.

As this daily was told unofficially, it is all part of the project these two banks should complete this year.

According to information published by Novosti, Vojvodjanska Banka is currently in the process of acquiring Eurobank.

Neither of the banks wanted to comment on the possibility of their merger.

These banks began the merger three years ago, that is, the National Bank of Greece was supposed to take over Eurobank, but the whole process was then frozen.

The National Bank of Serbia has not yet received a request from either Eurobank or Vojvodjanska Banka to issue an operating license for a bank resulting from the merger of these two banks.

Eurobank ranks among the top five banks in Serbia in the number of employees, branches and profit. It has 100 banking centers, 1,500 workers and 900,000 clients.

Vojvodjanska Banka operates in Serbia for 145 years, and it became a part of the National Bank of Greece in 2006.
