Tender to recapitalize Galenika in early April - No sale before company returns to former level
As Serbian Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic said earlier, the forthcoming tender is not a classical privatization but more of an attempt at finding a partner to finish the recapitalization of Galenika, which should take few months, after which a call for the appointment of professional management at the factory will be launched.
According to the Government's current plan, only after the former giant of the pharmaceutical industry in Serbia returns its production at least to the level and quality it had about ten years ago, will a call for the sale of 85% of the stake held by the state be announced. The minister also confirmed that that model for rescuing the pharmaceutical plant and selling it eventually had been agreed upon with the management of Galenika and two representative trade unions.
By the way, Galenika is on the list of 17 strategic enterprises that have got their protection from creditors extended by the state until 31 May 2016.
