During the work and research in PhDstudies in biometry field, Komlen Lalovic became very interested in scientificaxiom that baby’s finger print is formed in prenatal period until the seventhmonth of pregnancy in a mother’s stomach. As he was waiting for a baby with his wifeJelena, he decided to deal with the problem again which is very actual inSerbia, especially after so-called affair and to patent invention which willguarantee identity and stop changes and theft of babies.

- It is a device which would, during a birth, scan finger print of a mother andbaby. It has two fields for scanning, a display and memory and provides thatdata are stored at memory, device and server and mother receives a pin code. When exiting the hospital, a mother enters the pin, fingerprints are scannedagain and if they match, identity is guaranteed – Komlen explains in hisinterview for eKapija.

In 2015, he set up a startup company Golden Mind sothat he would continue developing his "Device for biometricalidentification of paternity-maternity”. He claims this discovery would have itspurpose and he hopes it will in all maternity hospitals of the world since it “isa quality leap in the system of public health with implementation of ICTtechnology”.

Visible result in the long run

So far, Lalovic has poured EUR10.000 through "Golden Mind" which he started as start up in ICTfield. It was important for him to confirm whether it is possible to carry our “acquisitionof minutia of fingerprint of a new born” and Komlen succeeded in confirmingthat empirically with his son Stefan and to get the optimal scanner with hisassociates.

- We need EUR 45.000 for pilotproject and the first real devices while investment would be paid back in twoyears and generate huge profit, it is estimated at EUR 500.000. We already potential partners but ourinvestors unfortunately do not step into more detailed story especially not inIT field. This is a marathon, not a sprint run on 100 meters since it is alarge project, large contribution and profit with a long run of a few years ofcourse – a collocutor of eKapija says.

Innovation ready for the market

Komlen LalovicKomlen Lalovic
He is veryself-confident and fully committed to his work. He has no doubts about hissuccess and he thinks it is only options which lead people who believe inthemselves and who know and defend their work "since they are appreciated inscientific environment and have publications in international magazines.”

- From the perspective of an entrepreneur, I think a lot needs to be done. Allnew companies in ICT field should be set free from fees, provided with freeincubators and when they start generating profit , introduce taxes. This simplywe do not show we opted for developing ICT industry. We as Golden Mind arefighting and we will see the outcome – Komlen Lalovic is a moderate optimist.

Participation at recent competition of startups , Ring Srbija, is estimated asnice experience with praises for youngpeople who manage this project and “give a small dosage of enthusiasm in thesedifficult terms”.

He says to his colleagues entrepreneurs theyshould be realistic and do all they can so that they can present and offertheir work in quality way, participate at competitions and tribunes, “chase”investors and remain who they are.

- Golden Mind is first planning to implement its patent in one of the maternity houses. We want to implement pilot project and demonstrate that this solution is complete and that it solves with 100% problem of switch and theft of babies. Apart from that, we also want to secure investment of EUR 45.000 and to move on to sales and marketing, to sell solution, maintenance and license rights. It is known there is a saying that not a single business model survives encounter with investors and we think that no market will survive our patent and project in the sense they will not buy it and patent it – Komlen Lalovic concludes in his interview for eKapija.
