The Study conducted by the Institute for trading in Köln shows that by 2020, 10.000 furniture traders will be forced to close their doors, including a part of trading of Swedish IKEA. Internet furniture sale was subordinated but it seems that now competition will hit back as no one was hoped for.

Data of German study show that one third of German furniture trading is endangered. Although data of associations of German sellers of furniture show that only 6% of total sale goes to online sale, research showed that after books and shops, internet sale is taking over furniture as well.

In the first nine months, online furniture trading, "Home24" generated thus sale growth of over 63%, and popular German online trader "Otto" has recently introduced furniture in the offer.
