Construction of industrial track in Kostolac started - Investment totals USD 16 m

In Kostolac construction of industrial track which should be completed by June has been in progress and investment totals16 mil USD. It is a track 21 km long which will lead from railway station Stig to thermal power plant Kostolac B, and whose construction of the first stage is a part of loan agreement between Serbia and the Republic of China, totaling USD 1,6 billion.

The main designer is Traffic Institute is CIP and the works are carried out by Belgrade-based Strabag with partners Vojvodinaput and PZP Zajecar.

New track will provide cheaper transport of lime stone to electric power plants which will be used the process of desulphurization of flue gasses which will significantly decrease environmental pollution. It will be used for transport of additional products – gyps, ash and some 50.000 tons of pieces of coal a day as well as coal for thermal power plant "Morava" in Svilajnac. Apart from that, new track will transport also equipment for the construction of B3 block and mining machinery to open pit mine "Drmno".
