Chinese are buying Piraeus port - Greece accepts offer totaling EUR 368,5 m

Greek state-owned privatization fund announced its accepted the offer of Chinese Cosco group for the acquisition of 67% shares at Piraeus port, the biggest one in the country although Greek left-oriented government firstly opposed it.

Privatization fund stated it accepted better offer of EUR 368,5 m for the acquisition of 67% shares or EUR 22 per share. It was stated in the announcement that agreement of acquisition will generate financial benefit for Greece since Cosco committed to invest in the port.

Greek left-oriented government, after the elections in September, gave up opposing big privatizations after agreeing on the third package of support.
