"Putevi Srbije" to obtain 60m EUR for bypass around Belgrade - contract signed with European Investment Bank on loan approval

European Investment Bank has approved loan in amount of 60m EUR to "Putevi Srbije" for construction of part of bypass around Belgrade. The contract on loan for works on a section of the bypass - Batajnica-Dobanovci, 9.7 km long, was signed by the General Manager of "Putevi Srbije", Branko Jocić, and Vice President of the Board of Managers of EIB, Dario Skanapjeko.

Manager of "Putevi Srbije", Branko Jocić, has announced that that public company will sign contract for another international loan on November 15 and that it will be used for financing of construction of the bypass around Belgrade on highway E-75.

- It is the loan in amount of 55m EUR and it will be approved to Serbia by the European Bank for Rehabilitation and Development - he specified.

On behalf of the Government of Serbia, which gives guarantee for that loan, the contract was signed by the Minister without portfolio who is in charge of implementation of the National Investment Plan, Dragan Đilas, who said that all members of the Government had the same opinion about that project, as well as Corridor 10.

He said that it had been agreed with the representatives of the city authorities in Belgrade that about 300m RSD be set aside from the city budget for that purpose. According to the words of Minister Đilas, approval of loans to Serbia by the world financial institutions is the sign that they belive that Serbia will use that money in the right way, as well as that it will repay the loans on time.

Minister said that the investments in Corridor 10 within the following three years would amount to 3 billion EUR and he added that it was possible that the works on that project would be finished within next three years. Speaking about plans for year 2008, he said that the reconstruction of the Pančevo bridge was expected, as well as bridges across the Tisa and the Sava near Rače and Obrenovac.

Representative of EIB, Dario Sanapjeko, said that that contract represented the first installment of total loan in amount of 180m EUR, and the credit repayment period is 25 years with the possible grace period of five years.

The value of the whole project for construction of bypass is estimated to about 452m EUR.
