Chinese interested in a large number of projects in Serbia - Negotiations on Zelezara, industrial zone, railroad to Budapest in progress

In his interview for Beta agency, Li, however, he could not say whether Chinese company will become an owner of Smederevo-based Zelezara adding that the talks have been in progress still.

Li said that they have been discussing with Serbia about other projects and that topic of the setting up Chinese industry for which location is to be picked up has already been opened.

According to the ambassador, Chia sees modernization of the Belgrade-Budapest railroad as a priority project in the region.

Speaking about the fourth Summit of China and 16 countries of CEE which will be held November 24-25 for the first time in China, Li said that it is important participants find mutual interest for investing in different projects.

According to him, there is USD 10 billion in the fund for cooperation of China and 16 countries but there is also a so-called “Silk fund” with USD 40 billion.

He added that since last year, when representatives of China and 16 middle and southeast Europe met, agreed projects are making progress but not with equal speed.
