In the next 25 years Serbia must pour app. EUR 1 billion in infrastructure projects to reach European waste management standards , the state secretary at the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection, Stana Bozovic, announced.

She said that in Serbia, based on strategies and laws, 26 regional landfills must be built in line with EU waste management standards and directives as well as with the policy of the Government of Serbia.

- This is very difficult and complex issue since huge investments are expected in waste management system especially. We have before us in the next 25 years, and we must set aside app. billion euros so that we would reach standards in huge infrastructure projects – Bozovic said.

Construction of the regional landfill in Subotica is, in her opinion, an example of good practice for entire Serbia.
