Novi Beograd, construction of wholesale market in Block 53 on 18ha - 50 million EUR
The first Serbian wholesale market worth about € 50m will be built in the Novi Beograd Block 53. Although the elaboration of entire project is not completed yet, there are remuneration study, detailed plan and plan of technological organization of wholesale market. This market will be supplier of market chains, hotels, army. It will have stock market, customs service and section for sale from the trucks.
The wholesale market will be the biggest investment in the country for the last 20 years. It will be built on the parcel of 12 ha on which is now Kvantaš market. Public Utility Company "Gradske pijace" (City Markets) says that they will negotiate with the City on allotment of two more parcels of 3 ha each, so that the wholesale market could be located on 18 ha. The facility of 7,300 square meters on the Kvantaš market, in which € 4.6m has been invested, serves as a warehouse, at the moment, but when the market is built, the offices will be located in it.
Institute of Economy has designed remuneration study and it is expected that the program scheme will be completely clear until the end of 2005 when realization of the project can start.
The congress of regional association of wholesale markets will be held in Belgrade in autumn 2005.
