Money for SMEs and housing loans - EBRD and UniCredit ink EUR 40 million agreements

EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti, UniCredit Bank Executive Board Chairman Claudio Cesario and Ljiljana Beric, a member of the Executive Board of UniCredit Bank, signed EUR 40 million agreements on Friday to increase the pool of housing loans and provide financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia.

Chakrabarti said on that occasion that the two EUR 20 million agreements signed between the EBRD and UniCredit Bank would make their relationship even stronger and ensure a long-term support to both small and medium-sized enterprises and mortgage lending to citizens.

Chakrabarti noted that these credit lines would also provide support to the implementation of NBS measures for the citizens who took out loans in Swiss francs.

When it comes to loans for firms, he said that small and medium-sized enterprises represented the backbone and foundations of the development of every economy.

- The EBRD knows how important the development of economy is, and SMEs can make this happen - he said and reminded that a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed the day before with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic with the aim of improving the business climate in Serbia.
