As of September 1st, the method of application of the protection of intellectual property rights to non-commercial postal parcels of low value is regulated for the first time ever, and all this is defined by the Regulation on Conditions and Manner of Implementation of Measures for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights at the Border.

As explained, the Regulation applies to all parcels containing up to three pieces of a commodity or weighing up to 2 kilograms.

- This is a novelty, but it is also a challenge for us, because postal parcels have never been controlled in that sense so far. This actually means that we used to fight to stop this type of commodity at the border, but never in postal traffic – said people at the Customs Administration.

They also voiced their expectation that this type of control would significantly affect the speed of delivery, adding that they would definitely do their best to be as efficient as possible.
