(Leskovac)

The Government of Serbia will do all it can to close the gap between underdeveloped south of Serbia and the country's more developed north as well as reduce the differences in the way of living and standard between the two, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said in Leskovac yesterday. He also said that the Green Zone in Leskovac represented a new opportunity for attracting investments and announced large investments and special incentives for the development of Serbia's south in the following period.

Vucic also noted on that occasion that the Government would try to bring investors from the food industry to this area, stressing that they were already negotiating with Yura to open its production facility in Leskovac as well.

Touring the Green Zone in Leskovac, the prime minister pointed out in talks with city authorities that the Serbian government was setting aside more money for the south of Serbia than for other parts of the country in order to stop the outflow of citizens from that area.

- We want to make the south of Serbia stronger - said the prime minister while announcing the creation of new jobs in Vladicin Han and Vranje.

As he says, he expects two factories to open in Vladicin Han and hire 400 workers each, whereas Vranje should get a factory that will employ 3,000 people.

- We expect to do a lot of work in the regions of Pcinj, Jablanica, Toplica and Pirot and in the southeast of Serbia, and we will be giving special incentives for this part of the country - said Vucic.
