Energy Agency approves electricity price increase
- The price of electricity for households will go up 4.4% on average, whereas the average increase in the price charged to all buyers entitled to a regulated rate is 4.5%, excluding the costs of excise taxes - aforementioned regulatory body said in a release.
On June 24th, the Parliament of Serbia adopted, with the majority vote, amendments and supplements to the Excise Law that call for imposing a 7.5% excise tax on electricity on August 1st, so that a total increase in the price of electric energy for households will be 12%, exclusive of the value added tax (VAT).
As it was stressed in the release, suppliers are to notify their customers of the electricity price increase 30 days in advance.
The fee for using distribution and transmission networks has remained unchanged, meaning that the prices set in 2013 are still applied.
