BAT acquires tobacco factory in Rovinj for EUR 550 million
TDR is a leading independent cigarette manufacturer in central Europe, holding a leading position in Croatia and a very strong position in Bosnia and Serbia, which will allow BAT to improve its business results in the region.
By combining the existing business in the region with TDR, BAT expects to benefit from highly qualified employees, well-established brands, bigger tobacco processing capacity on a regional level, high-quality local factories and printing firms, as well as good relations with distributors and retailers in these markets.
As part of the deal, BAT has committed to maintaining the production at TDR's factory in Kanfanar, Croatia, for minimum another five years after completion of the acquisition.
- This is an exciting acquisition for BAT, which will provide immediate scale in three core markets of Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia and establish a sustainable platform to grow our business in central Europe - said BAT CEO Nicandro Durante.
This transaction is expected to be completed in October 2015.
