City of Belgrade and Government of Greece to have Nebojša's tower reconstructed

Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Radmila Hrustanović, said that the Government of Greece and City of Belgrade would finance reconstruction of Nebojša's tower on Kalemegdan in 2008.

On the occasion of reception of Greek delegation, Hrustanović pointed to much things that histories of Greece and Serbia have in common and to the centuries-old friendship between the two countries.

The reception was organized on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of birthday of Riga of Feres. In addition to delegation from Greece, from Riga's hometown of Feres, guests at the reception were also members of delegation of Association of Greeks in Serbia.

Deputy Mayor laid a wreath last night (July 4, 2007) on the monument of Riga of Feres at the beginning of the Belgrade street that carries his name.

The wreaths were also laid by the representatives of embassied of Greece and Cyprus, Association of Greeks in Belgrade, Organization for cherishing tradition of liberation wars in Serbia prior to 1918 and city of Feres.

On the ground floor of the dungeon of Nebojša's tower, Turks executed Greek patriot and poet Riga of Feres.
