American Agency for International Development (USAID) will start the Project for economic operations for stability and development in Kosovo and Metohia in July. This project is intended for strengthening of institutions and environment required for acceleration of economic development of the province.
- The project will last for 36 months and it will be focused on ensuring clear application of laws and labour policy, including those that refer to application of the status solution, as well as on further strengthening of capacities of Kosovo, so that the management of key economic institutions could be enabled - the American Office to Priština announced yesterday.
The amount of 20m USD will be invested in technical support to the development of Kosovo's economy within next three years.
- Economic development is of crucial significance for progress and stability in Kosovo. In order for Kosovo to succeed in that, it is necessary that there are strong economic institutions in solid fiscal and financial sectors. Kosovo must continue to attract private investments by creating appropriate climate suitable for business and by finishing privatization process. It is necessary to create a legal frame that will be applied to the fullest, and the modern and efficient energy sector is also required - says Michael Farbmen, Head of the Mission of USAID to Kosovo.
