Beočin-based "Lafarge" to use old tyres as alternative fuel
Cement factory "Lafarge-BFC" in Beočin will soon start to use used automobile tyres as alternative fuel in cement production. This was announced by the Vice President of the company, Danijel Lemaršan, at the presentation of use of alternative fuels in Novi Sad.
He said that the design of study on influence on environment was underway and that the factory "will do everything it can to obey regulations that are in effect in that region".
According to his words, "Lafarge" introduced alternative fuels 25 years ago and now that company uses more than 6m tons of waste in its factories all around the world.
- Our aim is to help broader community to get rid of excessive waste by obeying all legal regulations and standards in that region - said Lemaršan.
He explains that the cement quality is not poorer when tyres are burnt in the cement furnaces, because the residuals of burning mainly contain the same oxides as cement and there is no change in the cement structure.
Lemaršan said that, in addition to old tyres, "Lafarge" also used used oil as alternative fuel and that it would also be used in the future as alternative fuel in Beočin-based cement factory.
