Construction of three new bridges in Belgrade

The Ministry of construction, traffic and infrastructure announced that at the bypass around Belgrade, two bridges more will be built, at the Sava at Ostruznica and at the Danube at Vinca as well as another bridge across the Sava for Corridor 11 at Obrenovac.

The construction of the bridge across the Sava at Ostruznica will by the end of the year within the second lane of the highway at bypass, the state secretary said at the ministry, Dejan Trifunovic, adding that tender for the bridge will be released in May, Tanjug reports.

- In the next period, we can expect three new bridges – Trifunovic outlined, adding that the bridge at Ostruznica will be built first which will be funded through savings from the loan of the European Investment Bank totaling EUR 30 m.

The bridge at the Sava at Obrenovac will be built within the planned concession at Corridor 11 so that it would connect the first section of the Surcin-Obrenovac highway- Trifunovic said.

Speaking about the bypass around Belgrade, he said that within the first stage of the bypass, the second lane of the highway from Ostruznica to Bubanj potok should be completed, 24 km long and that a total of EUR 200 m is necessary.

The second stage of a bypass which comprises construction of the Bubanj potok-Vinca and Pancevo highway construction, 31 km long, is planned together with railroad-road bridge across the Danube and according to the first estimations, the works will total EUR 470 m.

For the completion of the first stage and implementation of the second one, according to Trifunovic, Memorandum with Chinese company "Sinohydro" was signed which should deliver the offer for that investment by the end of the month.

Trifunovic expects that projects at bypass around Belgrade which is a part of Corridor 10 could be implemented in the next two years.

The second stage of the bypass construction around Belgrade is also important for the implementation of the Belgrade on water project and functioning of the main railway station Belgrade center in Prokop, Trifunovic added.

Batajnica knot which is a part of the bypass should be completed by May 1 this year and the second lane of the highway from Dobanovci to Ostruznica by June 1.
