Provincial government takes over financing of Zezelj Bridge construction in Novi Sad
It is said in the release that the provincial government agrees with the proposal of the Serbian Ministry of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure to secure all the future funding for this project by the transfer of Vojvodina's funds through the budget of the City of Novi Sad.
Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad was torn down in April 1999 by NATO bombs, and its rebuilding commenced 10 March 2011 and was originally supposed to be completed in November 2013.
The new deadline to complete this bridge is mid-2016. The contractor is the Spanish-Italian consortium Azvi-Taddei-Horta Coslada, and the original value of this project was EUR 45.3 million.
Construction of Zezelj Bridge is co-financed by the European Union, Vojvodina and the City of Novi Sad, whereas Serbian Railways assumed the rights and obligations of the investor on behalf of Serbia.
